BENGALURU: Following Monday night's rainfall, the foam from Bellandur lake threatened to spill over once again.
“There is massive frothing at Bellandur here, and the foam is threatening to spill over onto the roads. The
Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has installed a wire mesh and water sprinklers, but these did nothing to contain the foam,” said Sonali Singh, a resident of Bellandur.
According to Sonali, the foam had covered the road as of early Tuesday morning, but started to recede once the sun came out.
The highly polluted lake tends to catch fire in the summer, and froth in the monsoon season said residents. When it rains heavily, the froth spills over onto the roads, and even floats into nearby houses and shops.
In the past, the BDA has responded to such frothing by installing water-sprinklers, which they claim brings down the frothing by over 75%. However, residents have labelled such measures as being ‘short-term’ and an ‘eye-wash’.
